For those of you unfamiliar with SN adoptions (or adoptions in general).....
On Oct. 13 we sent in our LOI (Letter of Intent....asking China to adopt this specific baby).
After they receive the LOI, they look it over and issue us a PA (pre-approval, based only on this letter).
A few weeks later (ranging anywhere from 3-10), and after they've reviewed our entire dossier of information (which includes are medicals, financial info, homestudy, etc...) they'll issue an LOA (letter of approval). This shows that China will grant our request to adopt the baby we asked for in our LOI. (We hope to receive our LOA pretty quickly, as our files have already been reviewed when we were in the NSN line.)
Approx. 2-4 weeks after receiving & returning our LOA, we will receive a TA (travel approval) which is the final piece of paper we need to be able to travel to pick up our little girl. With this last piece of paper our agency can make an appointment with the American consulate, which we have to have in order to obtain a visa to bring Kalia home. Depending on when they can arrange for an appointment, we should be able to travel approx. 2 weeks after receiving our TA.
All-in-all we're looking at approx. 3-4 months before we'll be able to get her. This is going to be the longest 3-4 months ever!
It will go quickly trust me. Just make sure you get lots of rest and charge your batteries you will need them. I am so, so pleased for you all :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Suzanne, the time will go quite fast. Start packing, do some fun things as a family, and rest up. Email me if you have packing questions, I'd be happy to help in anyway. This is so exciting Brandi!
ReplyDeleteWith all the thing the girls do to keep you busy, I'm sure it will go quicker than you think. Basketball, girl scouts, band, plays, ect. Not to metion fixing up that precious room for her. You need anything you know where I'm at. I'll keep you busy!
