Elf on the Shelf

This year we decided to jump on the “Elf on the Shelf Train”.

Kalia, being Kalia, doesn’t have much of an interest in toys and no imagination. But I thought this year she was ready and might actually enjoy the whole search-for-him-when-you-wake-up thing.

And she did!

I asked one night what we should name her. I got some very odd answers from my big girls and each time we’d ask Kalia and she’d shake her head no (she knows silly names when she hears them :) )  We ended up with Peggy…but a little funny…when we asked her if she wanted to name the elf “Peggy” she signed “PIggy”. We kept trying to enunciate better so she’d hear the “e” instead of the “i”, but it took a couple times before she heard the difference. By then…we were all rolling…and knew our elf would be named Peggy! :)

It was funny to watch her in the morning. Sometimes she remembered to look for him and sometimes we had to remind her. On a couple occasions she got almost angry with him…like when he was eating her cheerios or reading her books. Others she thought he was quite funny…like when he was in the tree or flying from the fan. And other times she’d just point to him like “weird elf” :)…like when he was hiding in the flowers or sleeping in the kleenex box.

All-in-all we had a great time…maybe the teens/adults a bit more than the 6 year old :)

Already looking forward to doing it again when Caiden gets home!
