(yes…I know…just getting around to posting these….)
Finally….it’s vacation time!
We arrived yesterday evening after an approx. 9 hour drive. Everyone did great. I was especially proud of Kalia. It was her first road trip of any length and she did wonderful! She slept quite a bit, played with a new magnetic chalkboard with ABC’s & 123’s, read some books, danced to music & just watched the scenery (one of her favorite things to do in the car). We got checked in – then I sent Dan, Amanda & Emilee to the Mall of America for some Chinese. It was DELISH!!!!

After a good night’s sleep, we awoke around 8 a.m. to start our day. The girls were anxious to visit Nickelodian Universe in the Mall, so we started with that.
Kalia was super excited to see Dora – one of her favorite characters! (Interestingly enough, she could care less about Kai-lan).
We bought the girls wristbands and sent them on their merry little way. We purchased a restricted wristband for Kalia, which basically was at a very reduced price, but only allowed her to ride about 6 different rides (as many times as she wanted). We weren’t sure how she’d like them and didn’t want to waste a bunch of money for something she would never use.
She did not like the carousel at all!
But did rather enjoy this ride (even though it doesn’t look like it!)
Dan & Amanda had a great time climbing the ghostly gangplank – a rope course. It was pretty high, and you walked across thin steel beams, attached just with a harness & rope. Too scary for me & Emilee, but they seemed to enjoy it.
Dan even walked all the way out on the very top!
After that we headed back to the room for lunch & nap.
Our last stop of the day was dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. We were able to meet up with Laura and her younger daughter, Anna. It was so nice to see them and be able to chat for a bit.
Back at the hotel it was time for a little swimming, a little TV down-time then off to dream land. Ready for another adventure tomorrow – Water Park of America!
Here are a few more pictures from our day:
