1 year Forever Family

In some ways I can't believe it's been a year. In others, it seems like she's always been here.

I don't even really know what to say. Adoption has been such an amazing experience. And adding Kalia to our family....I couldn't imagine life without her. She's such a joy...and such a trooper. She's been through so much in her short life, and yet she is almost always smiling & happy. She makes me smile each & every day.

We're amazed at how far she's come in this last year.

(these pics were all taken on Gotcha day & Adoption day)

She came to us easily, all smiles & giggles and very little grieving. She was unable to walk unassisted, and didn't know how to play. She had absolutely no desire to play with other children, much prefering to stick near adults. She hit, pulled hair & scratched to keep people from getting too close to her & me.

Fast forward one year & this is what we see....

She is full of smiles & giggles, and rarely do we see instances of hitting & scratching. She loves daycare, and interacts daily with all the other children.

She is beautifully attached to all members of her family. She's definitely a momma's girl, but loves her daddy & sisters too.

She has caught up on all her developmental milestones, within 3-4 months of where she should be, except speech. Thanks to the help of her physical therapist, she's made great strides in walking & gross motor skills.

She's an amazing little girl!

Happy 1st Forever Family Day, Kalia! We love you to the moon & back!
