She's on the charts

Kalia had another checkup yesterday. She's now 23 lbs., 10 oz. (up 2 lbs. since we brought her home) and 33 1/2" long (up 1.25"). I mentioned to the Dr. how she's 24 months old and a whopping 23 lbs. and she says "at least she's on the charts". I know a lot of Asian kids don't register on the American growth charts for quite some time, so this is a good thing. She's in the 10th percentile for weight and around the 15th for length. A petite little thing, but she's growing just fine.

Speech therapy begins tonight. Because she's been sick, and because of the holiday this week, this was her first day back to daycare in a week. That, coupled with a stranger in the house wanting to work with her....I fear the worst! Let's hope she's in a good mood when I pick her up and feels like cooperating with the therapist.

We had originally planned on holding off on physical therapy for a bit, since she seemed to be coming along in that area and we didn't want to overwhelm her with too many therapists. After seeing the Dr. yesterday, she really recommends beginning physical therapy as soon as possible. Kalia is walking, but is very unsteady & walks stiff-legged. She thinks the therapy will really help get her up to where she should be. So...our evenings are going to be VERY busy around here. Speech therapy every Wednesday, physical therapy once a week (not sure what day yet) and Parents-as-Teachers once a month. This in addition to Amanda & Emilee's extracurricular activities. Lord help me!

  1. PAT is a great program and the girls love the activities that Mrs. Brandy comes up with and they can't wait to see her again!

I'm sure that Kalia will do great with her therapies and not be so overwhelmed as near as you might be. Our oldest daughter had therapies 5 times a week between PT, ST, and OT; some sessions were in the same day. Everything will run smoother than you might think and Kalia will do great.
