Weekend Recap

SATURDAY: Wow! Today was a super-busy day! We started off by putting another coat of Kilz on the bedroom, then I cleaned house a bit while Dan got some sleep (he worked last night). After he woke up we headed into town for Wild West Days. This is a new thing the Parks and Rec is doing, and, for being the first year, they had a really good turnout. They had a Wild West Show with Buffalo Bill Cody, Annie Oakley, etc. The show was really a bunch of short skits about different parts of how the west of tamed. They also had some horse tricks, a shoot-out with Annie Oakley, knife throwing by Injun, lasso tricks, etc… Very interesting! There was games, hayrides, crafts, Western/folk music and of course, yummy food! We all had a lot of fun!

After we got back home we finished putting the last coat of Kilz on the window & door trim, watched a movie and finally hit the sack around 1:30 a.m.

SUNDAY: We finally have the first coat of paint on the walls. I was beginning to wonder if that was ever going to happen! We have the top half of the wall and the trim painted white. We also got the baseboards painted white. Tomorrow, while I’m at work and the girls are at school, hubby is going to put a 2nd coat of white on and get started on the first coat of orange. It’s finally starting to come together.

We also managed to get the letters for their names done and the corkboards are fabric-covered. Hopefully the painting will be done by later this week and we can get the girls back into their room by this weekend. The only thing left to paint next weekend (hopefully) will be the bookshelf. I hope to be able to post the complete remodel by next Monday! (We’ll see!)
