According to Chinese legend, the twelve animals quarreled one day as to who was to head the cycle of the years. The gods were asked to decide and they held a contest: whoever was to reach the opposite bank of the river would be first, and the rest of the animals would receive their years according to their finish.
All twelve animals gathered at the river bank and jumped in. Unknown to the ox, the rat had jumped upon his back. As the ox was about to jump ashore, the rat jumped off the ox’s back and won the race. The pig, who was very lazy, ended up last. That is why the rat is the first year, the ox the second, and the pig last.
OK, so here’s our signs. Those who know us see if these fit.
Dan - Year of Pig (Coincidentally, this year is also the year of the Pig. The Chinese New Year begins on Feb. 18 - more on that later.)Those born in the year of the pig are chivalrous and gallant. Whatever they do, they do with all their strength. There is no left and right, and no retreat. They have great honesty. They don’t make many friends, but the ones they do make are friends for life, and anyone having a Boar Year friend is very fortunate for they are extremely loyal. Boar people are quick tempered, yet they hate arguments and quarreling (This is my hubby, for sure. Even when I just want to have a good argument, he won‘t do it). They are kind to their loved ones (for sure!). They are most compatible with Rabbits and Sheep.
Brandi - Year of the RabbitPeople born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted and often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper (this doesn’t sound like me, does it?). They are clever at business and are conscientious. They are conservative (me, no way!) and wise (I’ve been saying this all along J ). They are most compatible with those born in the year of the Sheep, Pig and Dog (See, honey, I always said we were good together J ).
Amanda - Year of the RatPeople born in the Year of the Rat are noted for their charm and attraction for the opposite sex (no wonder she has a lot of boy friends (note: not boyfriends, not for a few more years at least!). They work hard to achieve their goals, acquire possessions and are likely to be perfectionists. They are basically thrifty with their money. Rat people are easily angered (this is definitely not her!) and love to gossip. Their ambitions are big and they are usually successful. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Dragon, Monkey and Ox.
Emilee - Year of the TigerTiger people are sensitive, given to deep thinking, capable of great sympathy (that’s her!). They can be extremely short tempered, however (that’s her too!). Other people have great respect for them, but sometimes they come into conflict with older people or those in authority (luckily, not too often!). Sometimes Tiger people cannot make up their minds, which can result in poor, hasty decisions. They are courageous and powerful. Tigers are most compatible with Horses, Dragons and Dogs.
While some of the characteristics of those born in the Year of the Rabbit apply to me, I think I’m more like those born in the Year of the Dragon. Since 1976 was the Year of the Dragon, and I was born late 1975 maybe I was supposed to be a Dragon and just came early? Not likely, but who knows? People born in the year of the Dragon are healthy, energetic, short-tempered and stubborn (all those apply). They are also sensitive (very!), honest, brave and they confidence and trust. Dragon people neither borrow money nor make flowery speeches (nope, I tell it like it is!), but they tend to be soft-hearted which sometimes give others and advantage over them.
So, what do you think? Does our sign fit our personality?
Both Shawn and I are rats and like you, some apply but not a lot.
