Car Shopping

Unfortunately my van is not going to last much longer. Isn't it sad that Americans can't make a car that will last longer than 6 years?! That's ridiculous! 108k miles and it's on its last leg...and I refuse to put any more money into it. Never again will I own a Dodge!

Anywho...we're looking at a small to mid-size SUV. Anyone have any opinions on these?

Pontiac Torrent

Mitsubishi Outlander

Suzuki Grand Vitara

Chevy Equinox

Or do you have any other ideas?

I need something that is roomy enough to hold 2 older kids & a carseat in the back. I would really like a 3rd row seat (none of these have that option except the Outlander, I believe), but I don't want to spend an arm & a leg and I don't want to buy such a huge SUV that it guzzles gas like crazy. So I think I'm out of luck! I do want them to be comfortable back there, especially since we do a LOT of traveling.

  1. I as a single woman owned a VW polo, I sold it when I got married it was 12 yrs old, no rust! started every time and perfect, I so loved that car!. Now we have a VW passat, its now 10 yrs old, no rust! no problems and will trade it in later this year...........wait for it, another VW passat! Great for motorway/freeway driving and built to last!!! Also economical on gas!!!!! So my opinion VW!!!!!!!

  2. Brandi,

We have the Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 Touring Edition. It DOES have a third row seat. We love it. Go take one for a spin. Great car, reasonably priced, roomy & good on gas. Good luck. Keep us posted.

  3. I can't say much about any of them, because I know nothing about cars and as you know I have a Toyota Sienna, but on the pretty factor I like the Mitsubishi Outlander. Personally, the pretty factor has never steered me wrong, Oh yeah, and James' car expertise :)
