LOCKED!!!!!

Yep....you read that right!

On December 23, 2008 (after a 25 1/2 month wait) we received an email from our agency about a 15 month old little girl currently residing in Hunan. This little girl stole our hearts, but we were cautious. We didn't know much about her special need, and wanted to read & learn as much as we could. After researching, having our pediatrician review the file, praying, asking for updates, researching & praying some more, we decided we were definitely capable of handling this particular need. I think deep down we knew right then that she was our daughter, the little girl we've been waiting for.

There were concerns, as I think there always are when you step out of your comfort zone. Adopting is a leap of faith....adopting special needs is an even greater leap! But never fear, our faith is strong. And every step of the way I could feel Him with us. Every time I felt like this was too much for us, I would stumble across something or someone's personal story that said it wasn't. I tried to stay strong and detach myself. It was just research, I kept telling myself. It wasn't until I received the updated growth report & pictures that I said "no more". No more research, no more questioning, no more....She's ours. Even before the updated medical report came through I had called & asked our agency to lock her file. I felt like a weight had been lifted and I just knew we were following His plan. And as if to prove it to me, the updated medicals came thru to us a couple hours later, and her original diagnosis had been changed (for the good!)Other than being a little behind developmentally, she is a beautiful, healthy little girl with the chubbiest cheeks ever! God is good!

Our agency is expecting PA to arrive very quickly (then I can share a pic with all of you), and for us to travel in April/May. The next few months are going to fly by and creep...all at the same time :) Hang on, Kalia....it won't be long now!

    Brandi,
You deserve this little angel and I can't wait to hold her in my arms, just like you can't wait to hug and kiss your little girl for the first time. You are a trooper and she is beautiful! Little baby Kalia will be in our thoughts and prayers always. Would you believe it I told you that she looks just like you :) CONGRATS!

  4. I am so happy for you Brandi, Congratulations. You'll be shocked how fast the PA arrives. Hold on tight...the ride is going to go really fast now. Start packing girl! Next week William will have been with us for 6 months, I'm doing a post about that and his SN, and really speak about SNs in general. It's something I've wanted to talk about for a while.
    Hugs to you,
    Gail
