Catching Up

'Tis the time of year for me to be behind in just about everything!

On Monday the girls & I wrapped all the Christmas presents. Since they've gotten old enough to help out with wrapping, we always buy all the presents, then later have a big wrapping party. They did a great job, and I can't wait to watch all the family open their gifts Christmas Eve. I know there's a couple toys in there for my nieces & nephews that I want to play with. Think they'll let me?

On Wednesday we made our 1st gingerbread house. How much fun was that?! I can't believe we've never taken the time to make one before. The girls did a great job and we all had so much fun. We're obviously not cake decorators, but I think it turned out GREAT!

On Thursday, the girls both had their winter concerts. Emilee had a choir concert. Her music teacher is the best at choreographing movements to all the songs. It's so much fun to watch. Choir concerts can get a little boring (you know it's true), but she really works hard to make it fun for both the kids & the audience. Emilee got to wear reindeer antlers in one of her songs, and the song was so catchy I had it in my head the rest of the night & part of the next day. Amanda had her first band concert. They did such a great job, for only playing an instrument for 3 1/2 months. Their band teacher said they're doing such a great job that they're actually about a month ahead of schedule.

Saturday we watched the parade in downtown JC. They always put on such a cool Christmas parade. The weather was a bit deceiving. I had to work a few hours, so told Dan I would meet him at our usual spot. I only work 2 1/2 blocks from that spot, so figured I'd just walk (instead of having to find a parking spot 2 blocks down). I threw my coat & gloves on and headed out. Didn't seem too bad (for the 1st 1/2 block), then the wind just went right through me. By the time I made it to our "spot" I was frozen. The wind was bitter-cold. The parade was good, though.

Amanda was staying the night with some friends, so Emilee & I had the night to ourselves. We were craving pizza, so we picked one up & hunkered down for the night. Watched a movie....ate some popcorn....scooted around the carpet on sleds (we had purchased some sleds for the girls and they were sitting in the living room. On an impulse I sat in one and started using my arms to scoot around the floor. Emilee grabbed the other one, and before you knew it we were chasing each other. GREAT FUN!!!!!).

Sunday the girls were in the local parade (Girl Scouts). They did a Christmas Eve bedtime theme, so were dressed in their p.j.'s, robe & slippers (except Emilee who thought it was too cold for slippers so she wore her boots). The temps were in the 40's, but there wasn't much wind so it didn't feel too bad.

So there you have it. Our busy week. We're off to Chicago on Friday morning, so not sure if I'll post again til early next week. But at least I'll have something fun to post about! Have a great week!

Great job guys! Your first gingerbread house was a success and both concerts were great I'm sure. As hectic as you always are, I can't wait till my kids start to do things like that. Quentin has a musical type thing on Friday, but it's not his thing. You guys have a great trip to Chicago and have a Merry Christmas!
