Catching Up

Once again I'm behind. Nothing new, right? Lots going on right now, and I don't see anything changing in the near future.
  • Summer softball is back in full swing. Practices have started...first game is June 3. The girls are both doing very well, considering they've not played since last summer. Emilee has been playing first base. She's doing o.k., but I think she plays much better as shortshop/catcher. It's good that the coach is trying her in different positions, though. Amanda is doing really good. Her batting/catching has always been pretty good, but she's really doing much better with throwing. Making long, accurate throws. Like I said, first game is June 3 so we'll see how it goes.

  • Saturday we visited the Botanical Gardens. They were hosting Chinese Cultural days, so we thought this would be a good weekend to check it out. It's sad...we've lived here for over 25 years and haven't done even a quarter of the things this great state has to offer. We all decided this year was going to be the year we had some FUN!! Anyway, back to the gardens. They were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! There were so many different types of vegetation, from many different parts of the world. There was a Chinese Garden (with tea tasting, Tai Chi demonstrations & dancing), Japanese Gardens (with a beautiful pond where you could feed the Koi fish), a Rainforest (with a beautiful waterfall) and many, many more. The garden was filled with some really neat statues, most made with mosaic tiles. The only thing we didn't like was that we came a little too early to see some of the flowers in full bloom. For example, they had a large area dedicated to roses...which are just beginning to bloom. I think there were only a select few that actually had rosebuds on them, the rest were just the bushes. It would be a beautiful area in another month. I guess we'll just have to go back : )

  • Work is going good...with the new owners and all. Nothing has really changed...which is good. Hope it stays that way.

I'm going to try to be better at keeping this blog updated. We'll see.
