Nanchang, Jiangxi, China

I really don't have much going on right now...exept work...so how about we talk a little about Nanchang.

Nanchang...beautiful Nanchang...

The capital of Jiangxi province, the city is home to 1.9 million people and sits on the Gan River. It is known for the Tengwang Pavilion, Bayi Square and the world's tallest ferris wheel, the Star of Nanchang.

Most of the area of Nanchang lies on a vast plain. In the northeast are lakes, and the southwest are mountains and hills. Nanchang has a subtropical moonsoon climate, with an annual average temperature of 17.5 degrees celsius. The main industries of Nanchang are engineering, textile, food processing & electronics.

Its manufacturing of automobiles (Ford Motor Co. has a plant there, producing the Ford Transit van) and planes also play an important role in China. Nanchang is rich in agricultural, forest, and aquatic resources. Not only is it a large grain region, but it also produces cotton, peanuts, sesame, jute, fruit, lotus roots, and freshwater fish. Watermelons and grapes are excellent here.
Will Kalia be from Nanchang?

  2. It is fun to think about where our girls will be from. I've had a thought, but we'll have to wait and see. There is so much beauty in China. I cannot wait for the trip of a lifetime!

  3. Grace is from Jiangxi Province, Fuzhou SWI which is about 3 hours south of Nanchang (it is pronounced Nan-chung). We stayed there for a week, Grace was brought to our hotel. Most of the children from China that are adopted come from the Jiangxi, Hunan and Guangdong provinces. Jiangxi is known as "the oven of China." And Ashley is correct, it is a trip of a lifetime. :)
