Weekend Recap

We had a GREAT weekend!

SATURDAY: Boy, oh boy , did we have a busy day today! We started out bright & early (left the house at 7 a.m.) and headed to Kansas City. Amanda’s birthday was a couple weeks ago and she really wanted to go to Build-a-Bear. We don’t have a Build-a-Bear around here, so unfortunately she had to wait until today to get her birthday present from us. We’ve never been before, but the girls had a great time. Emilee didn’t get anything this time, but she made sure we knew that she wanted to do the same thing for her birthday (so I guess in another month we’ll be making another trip to KC). After looking at all the cool stuffed toys they offer, she settled on a really soft, cuddly teddy bear (she really wanted a cow (don’t ask), but they had already discontinued that one). She had a lot of fun picking out a sound for it (she chose “Take me out to the ballgame), putting the heart & stuffing inside, giving her a bath, creating a birth certificate and, of course, picking out the outfit. She chose a really cool black skirt, black/leopard print top, leopard print purse, gold shoes and black hair bows. She also found a KC Royals shirt for her. I must admit…it was a lot of fun picking out the clothes! She had a GREAT time!

After that we headed off to Worlds of Fun. We haven’t been in about 3 years, and they’ve really grown since then. They now have 2 or 3 new rides. LOVE the Patriot (new this year) and the Spinning Dragons. Emilee has just gotten tall enough to be able to ride pretty much everything, and she LOVES the thrill rides. The faster it goes and the more times it goes upside down, the better! My little daredevil! The lines weren’t too bad, but it was a little hot and very humid. By the time we left, we looked pretty bad and felt like we needed a shower. But it wasn’t going to happen, because our day wasn’t done yet.

After stopping at KFC/Taco Bell, we headed to our last stop of the day…Kauffman Stadium to watch the Royals and Yankees play some ball. The Royals got their butt kicked, but we had a great time. Of course, no ball game is complete without Dippin’ Dots ice cream! LOVE that stuff!

Our day finally ended around midnight when we finally arrived back home. What a great day, though! We’ve been looking forward to this day for quite some time.

SUNDAY: Amazingly enough, even after arriving home and getting to bed after 12:30 a.m., we were all up by 9:00 this morning. We spent a couple hours outside planting some bulbs for spring, spreading some mulch, pulling weeds, trimming trees/shrubs, blowing leaves, etc… It started to get a little hot, so we headed inside, watched a movie, did some laundry/cleaning, cooked supper and got ready to watch Big Brother. LOVE that show! I’m so glad Zach finally started using his head and decided to try to get Dick & Danielle out! Unfortunately it’s a very risky move this far into the game, but I sure hope it works. If those 2 stay in the game, neither Zach nor Jameeka have a chance. I don’t much care for any of them (I was pulling for Eric & Jessica…who were evicted last week), but if I have to choose between the 4 of them I will definitely root for Zach & Jameeka. I can’t stand Dick and his awful attitude (even though his playing strategy is strong) and there’s just something about Danielle that I don’t like. I liked her in the beginning, but that changed about halfway through. Not sure what it is, but I sure hope she’s gone this week or next!

Anyway, all-in-all it was a very good weekend and I’m so glad we got to spend some quality time together as a family. With our busy, busy lives it sometimes feels as if it’s me and the girls, or Dan and the girls…but rarely is it all 4 of us together. I try to really cherish those moments when we get them.
