SATURDAY: Today was a very busy day. We had both a waiting families dinner and a birthday party. This was our 2nd Waiting Families dinner. This time we met at HuHots in Columbia. (I LOVE their food! It’s a Mongolian Grill where you select your own meat, veggies and sauce, then take it to the grill and watch them cook it for you. Yummy!) Lunch was at 1:00 and we didn’t leave until almost 3:30. We had a really great time getting to know the other families a little better, and meeting a new family. So far there are 6 families, with LIDs from 2-06 until ??? (the newest family was just DTC 7-19-07 and haven’t even received their LID yet) There are 2 of us with LIDs in 2006, the one in February and ours in November. The other 3 are from Feb. till April 2007. It’s great to be able to connect with people who are all going through the same things we are.

After that we booked it back home to get ready for Amanda’s birthday party. I can’t believe my oldest is turning 11 (her birthday is actually today, Aug. 27). Wow! Time goes by so quickly. In the blink of an eye they’re all grown up. It’s great watching her grow into a young adult, but also a little terrifying knowing that we’re responsible for making sure she grows into a responsible, caring, honest adult. Nothing like a little pressure J! Seriously, though. There’s nothing like watching them grow into fine young adults!
Amanda really enjoyed having her family up to celebrate with her. One of my sisters, her husband, my brother and his girlfriend couldn’t make it as they were sick. Hope they’re feeling a little better…nothing worse than summer colds. Before the party, my younger sister and her kids showed up so they got to help us make the cake. Here’s some cool pics of them licking the batters and eating the frosting.

She got some pretty cool gifts and a little cash. I asked her what she was going to buy with her cash, and she said she wasn’t sure yet. We’re taking her to Build-A-Bear, Worlds of Fun and a Royals game in a couple weeks, so she said she may spend some of it at Build-A-Bear. We’ll see if it lasts that long. You know kids…money seems to burn a hole in their pocketsJ
SUNDAY: Nothing much today. We took the girls swimming, finished cleaning up after the party and just relaxed a bit. We had an older camcorder that we advertised in the local paper and were able to sell it today. YEAH! More cash for me to spend on baby stuff (just kidding, hubby :) ) (no I’m not :) )

ReplyDeleteHi Brandi,
ReplyDeleteSara emailed us a link to your blog, so I thought I'd stop and check it out. I didn't realize it was Amanda's birthday too! Happy belated birthday. It sounds like you had a really packed but fun day!
Tamara
p.s. There are actually 2 others with 06 LIDs, they just haven't made it to the last couple of get-togethers.
