Yesterday was the girls' first day of school. Amanda is in 5th grade and Emilee is in 3rd grade. Tuesday was Open House, where they can bring in their school supplies, put them in their desks/lockers, meet the teachers, etc... Taking Emilee to her class didn't bother me so much. She's still in one classroom, with one teacher, one desk with all her things in it...much the same as the last few years.
Amanda, however, now has a locker to store all her things. She goes to 7 different classrooms throughout the day. The desks are like those in middle/high school, one piece with just a basket under the seat to hold their binders/books. It really hit me as it just seemed like she was moving towards middle school way too fast!
Both girls said they had a good first day. Amanda was up bright & early at 6 a.m., and completely ready to go by 6:30 (before I even got out of bed!!!!) Emilee didn't get up until 6:45 when we woke her up, but was ready in less than 30 minutes. Unfortunately this won't last long!
Amanda really enjoyed meeting up with her friends again (she's such a social butterfly!). Emilee really likes her teacher, however said that she talked too much (you know how first day goes...explaining procedures, schedules, etc...).
All-in-all things went well and they're getting back in the swing of things. Looking forward to another great year!

I'm so glad to hear that had a great day! That helps us mommies feel so much better. Your girls are almost the same ages as my boys...they are 5th and 2nd grade! Great pictures!
